Colias palaeno (NL: Veengeeltje / EN: Moorland Clouded Yellow, Palaeno Sulphur / DE: Hochmoorgelbling / FR: Solitaire) is a butterfly in the family Pieridae. It is a lovely species of bright lemon yellow and strongly contrasting black borders. The species is actually easily identifiable in flight, when the characteristic plain border is very obvious. As most Colias-species, it is an avid flyer, often impossible to get close to unless you find them feeding or are lucky enough to spot one on a cool cloudy day. Though the species is normally restricted to the habitats (bogs and marshes up to 2500m.), occasionally it is found far from suitable breeding grounds. The larva is found on Vaccinium uliginosum.
