Series: European Terrestrial Orchids

Dactylorhiza praetermissa (NL: Rietorchis / EN: Southern Marsh Orchid / DE: Übersehene Knabenkraut) is a commonly occurring species of European orchid. The genus name comes from the finger-like tubers (Dactylorhiza is derived from the Greek δάκτυλος dactylos = finger and ρίζα rhiza = root). The epithet praetermissa is derived from the Latin word praetermissus: overlooked, forgotten.
