While making some macro shots of moss species, a curious toad came looking what I was doing ...
Bufo bufo (NL: Gewone pad of Bruine pad / EN: Common toad or European toad) is an amphibian widespread throughout Europe. Adults males usually grow to 8 cm and adult females around 13 cm and their skin has a warty appearance and ranges from green to brown. The pupils are shaped horizontally elliptical, the iris appears red and gold to copper colored ("amber"). They weigh about 20 to 80 grams. Toads can not transmit warts to people through handling or skin contact. The bumps on a toad's skin help the animal blend into its environment visually by breaking up its outline.
