Iris unguicularis ssp. cretensis, the Cretan Iris, is a perennial with short stems and many straight, narrow leaves which resembles grass. It is one of the most beautiful colored irises and endemic to Crete. It forms clumps with many violet flowers which bear ompressive white and yellow patterns. Habitat: phrygana, stony locations and on slopes.
