Series: "Wild flowers of Crete"
Trifoliumm stellatum (Star clover) is an annual plant, hairy and with leaflets that are inverse heart-shaped, the side leaflets almost white, with veins and edges that are grassy green. The flower-bearing heads are spherical on long flowerstalks, and the flowers are white with yellow or pinkish tones. The calyces are hairy, and red on ripening when they take a characteristic star-shaped form which can be seen in this image. The plant can be found in fields, stony locations and in phrygana.
