Crete 2010 #5 Spili Venetian fountain lionheads

Posted by
Johan Dierckx (Wijnegem, Belgium) on 19 January 2011 in Architecture and Portfolio.

In April 2010 I made a photo-trip to Crete. The main goal was surching and documenting the wild orchids and endimic flora of the Island. I already posted some of the species back in april (all images posted between 23/04/2010 and 15/05/2010).
In this series I will be posting mainly cityscapes and landscapes taken on the island during that trip.
For me it is a good occasion to review my images and select only the best and most representative ones from this trip.

anne from zwolle, Netherlands

Groetjes.

Siepi from Perk, Belgium

Heel knap detail van deze fontein. De diepte, het heldere water, ... magnifiek.

19 Jan 2011 11:54am

Veronique from Sarrouilles, France

excellent !!

@Veronique: Thanks, Veronique. Always happy with your enthousiast comments :-) Greetz !

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

Great shot, excellent perspective. I remember Spili, somewhere to the south of Rethymnon in the mountains?

19 Jan 2011 4:31pm

@Curly: You are very right, Curly. Spili is a mountain vilage on the road between Rethymnon and Agia Ghalini in the center part of Crete. This fountain is a must-see when you pass the village. I hope you made a stop there !

Marleen from Doesburg, Netherlands

Intrigerend beeld(en)! Gaaf die herhaling!

19 Jan 2011 4:39pm

klauSZ from Kufstein, Austria

a beautiful theme and a great pov!

Mascha from Kootstertille, Netherlands

Groetjes !

Great capture! I like the focus and the lions are really handsome.

21 Jan 2011 8:35am

@Marilla: Thanks, Marilla. It is realy special to see the water comming out of those lionheads. There has to be a special meaning for this particular shape but I have no idea about that.
