Crete 2010 #1 - Chania

Posted by
Johan Dierckx (Wijnegem, Belgium) on 15 January 2011 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

Atfer some experimenting in Black and White with some older images, I decided to post a series of my photo-trip to Crete in April 2010. The series will mainly be a mixture of landscapes and floral macro's. It is a good occasion for me to review my images and select only the best and most representative ones from this trip.

Julie Brown from Indianapolis, United States

Beautiful water and nice color variety with the buildings.

@Julie Brown: The light in the mediteranean erea can be realy beautifull ... The old vilages are always very colorfull and pitoresque. Although my trip was mainly devoted to plants out there, the total atmosphere of the Island was very pleasing !

¨‘°ºO Dutçh Oº°‘¨ from Neverwhere, United States

A beautiful view. I am so used to seeing things close up through your eyes this is unique. Was this part of your orchid shooting expedition?

16 Jan 2011 8:09pm

@¨‘°ºO Dutçh Oº°‘¨: He, Kristen, you remember ! Nice! Indeed the main goal of my Crete-trip was orchid-documentation :-D and making images of endemic plants of the island. But of course an island in the Mediterranean is more then it's plants and nature, so now and then I made some other images too :-). You'll see that i'm not always crowling on the ground looking for soms tiny plant-species :p (But you're right - It is not my "normal" photographic work...)
