Coltricia perennis #3

Posted by
Johan Dierckx (Wijnegem, Belgium) on 30 November 2010 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

Coltricia perennis (Echte tolzwam (BE) / Tiger's Eye (EN) / Dauerporling (DE) / Polypore vivace (FR)) is a species of fungus in the Hymenochaetaceae family.
More info on the species: see previous 2 images.

Of course the concentrical rings with their real earthy colors were a real invitation to make some more abstract images of this unusual but splendid mushroom species. As November was gloomy and cold without much sun in Belgium, this image reminds me of this sun as the motor of all life on earth.

A wonderful abstract with nice warm tones. This would be great as a print to hang.
