Series: European Terrestial Orchids

Dear friends, blog-followers or ocasional visitors,
I left for a phototrip to Crete. So I'm posting some images from last year (about the same period) for a little while. (No mosses anymore ...)
I'm not giving any further explanation on these images, but the title is the scientific name of the species so for those who are interested - see Google :-)

Please DO comment these images, but I apologize for the delayed answers I hope to catch up again about 18 april. Meanwhile I hope you can enjoy this "older" work!

Self-Indulgence from Chicagoland, United States

These look like Snapdragons but I didn't see the name cross reference. I like the warm coloration and the dof is dreamy.

@Self-Indulgence: This species is the first terrestrial orchid coming to bloom in Belgium. For me it's every year the start of the season... My real passion are the terrestrial orchids of Belgium (and Europe)... that's why i left for Crete this year ... you'll see :-)

KriKridesign from Cully, Switzerland

So I'm in it (orchidacae...Pffff One must write it!!!) Fantastic...Make me think to the one we can find in our alps, at around 1500-2500m üm...Sure you'll be amaised by them also!

@KriKridesign: I visited the alps a few times and I know most of the orchid-species growing there... there is a huge diversity too there. Maybe next year I plan another trip to the alps to studie some species... I'll let you know ;-). On my personal website, there are some more species... You're welcome there if you are interested. B.t.w. Orchidaceae is the scientific and universal name for the Orchid-family - i know, it is hard to write but one gets used to it ...:-)))
