Polytrichum piliferum #3

Posted by
Johan Dierckx (Wijnegem, Belgium) on 22 March 2010 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Series: Belgian bryophyta

Just a few cm more to the left than the previous picture ... The calyptera just wagling in the gentle spring-breeze ...

For most of my pictures I take my time ... waiting, waiting, ... here I had to be realy fast: a few moments after I took the picture, the wind blew a little stonger, taking the hairy cap with it and leaving the capsula unprotected...

Polytrichum piliferum (Bristly Haircap - Ruig haarmos)

(Taken with 150mm macro + 1.4 extender, natural light, no crop.)

@dang: I'll keep it with stills :-) that's difficult enough for me... Thx Dang.

@Tamara: Hartelijk dank, Tamara. We blijven ons best doen :-)

Marleen from Doesburg, Netherlands

Annie Viguié from Bordeaux, France

J'adore...comme celle de hier...même encore plus !

@Annie Viguié: Merci beaucoup, Annie.
Sometimes it is difficult to choose between images. I do think every image is a stand alone - I try not to compare too much.

Ansie from Paarl, South Africa

Die lig op die stingel is pragtig!

@Ansie: Heel erg bedankt voor je compliment, Ansie.

Self-Indulgence from Chicagoland, United States

I really love the translucency of the stem in this one. :)

@Self-Indulgence: Thank you, Kristen. I always try to look for interesting light-situations.

Julie Brown from Indianapolis, United States

Nice action captured here. It looks like a very tenuous hold. I like the story behind it.

23 Mar 2010 3:01am

@Julie Brown: Without the wind, this would not have been possible to capture ...
Have a nice evening, Julie.
